APEL.A (Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning for Access) offers individuals with substantial work experience an alternative pathway into higher education programs, even if they lack the formal academic qualifications typically required.
A simple process to obtain your accreditation.
a) Aptitude Test
The Aptitude Test is a formal examination that applicants are required to pass. Candidates must obtain a minimum score of 50% to pass the overall APEL.A T-3 and APEL.A T-4 assessment. The purpose of the Aptitude Test is to evaluate the competency and readiness of applicants to pursue studies at the Certificate and Diploma levels.
b) Portfolio
The second assessment component that applicants are required to pass is the portfolio assessment. A portfolio is a compilation document of prior learning experiences, including formal, informal, and non-formal learning. Applicants are required to prepare a portfolio, which can be written in either Malay or English.
The Academic Programme Provider (PPA) should advise applicants to select and submit evidence that is most relevant and appropriate to the field they are applying for. For certified learning, applicants must include copies of certificates or documented evidence that has been verified. For experiential learning, applicants may provide evidence in the form of testimonials from employers/clients/colleagues, task lists, and other relevant documents.
The APEL.A portfolio for admission into Certificate and Diploma levels must be internally assessed and verified using the checklist form provided by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). However, the portfolio assessment does not carry any weight in determining whether a candidate passes the overall APEL.A T-3 and T-4 assessment.
